What is ESN Tallinn?

ESN Tallinn is a non-profit organization that is based on an idea "students helping students". More accurately - we are doing everything in our means to make Erasmus students' life in Tallinn as fulfilled as possible.

ESN Tallinn was founded in 2003 and first started to take care of Erasmus students studying at Tallinn Pedagogical University (current name Tallinn University). Erasmus was at that time the most popular and most successful educational exhange program and most of the incoming international students came here with Erasmus. As the number of Erasmus students and other foreign students in this university was small, then volunteers in ESN Tallinn decided to take care of exchange students also in other higher education institutions in Tallinn. Year by year there were more and more exchange students coming to all the universities in Tallinn - as a result the range of our activities and volunteers has risen and we are covering more and more students.

Our organization is a part of ESN international AISBL (www.esn.org) and also members of  ESN Estonia, which has a regulatory board to manage the ESN activity on the national level and be a link between the international and local level. (www.esn.ee/estonia)

In Estonia there are 5 local ESN sections

  • ESN Tallinn
  • ESN TU IC (or also Tallinn University International Club - www.esindus.ee/ic)
  • ESN TUT IC (or also Tallinn University of Technology International Club - www.tipikas.ee/ic)
  • ESN EBS IC (or also Estonian Business School International Club)
  • ESN Tartu (www.esn.ee/tartu)

Here in Tallinn we unite students from many universities:

Who are we?

All members of ESN Tallinn are volunteers.

Many of our members have been Erasmus students themselves, and all of us do agree with the statement that many people have said before us: "Erasmus is something that will stick with you wherever you are".

At the moment we have about 20-30 active members who are organizing different kind of events in order to introduce students Estonian culture, habits and traditions. Our members also actively take part in international youth projects, youth seminars etc, and also in the work of ESN International by representing our section in international events, projects and committees.

What do we do?

In ESN Tallinn program there are many different kind of events planned. In the beginning of every semester we have a "Orientation Week", and many other events are held regularly. For example ESN Movie Night is held every month. Also a quiz tournament which takes place 4 times a semester, is organized.

We also manage trips and excursions (Lapland and Russia), opera visits, theatre visits, different competitions (Football Tournament, Basketball Tournament, Photo competition), various outdoor events etc and we create a marvelous souvenir called ESN Diary at the end of each semester for the students to take home.

How to take part in our events?

Upon arrival, all exchange students - from universities listed above - are automatically added to our mailing list through which we send out information about our upcoming events and other useful information in the form of a newsletter every sunday. You can find information about our upcoming events on our webpage or facebook group in the form of „ESN Tallinn Autumn/Spring Semester YEAR“.

How to become a member of ESN Tallinn?

What matters is that you are active and you are willing to contribute to the work of our organization.
